Tornado Touchdown

Hey y'all!

Crazy week!  Monday night we had a couple of tornado's touch down and raise cain!  One touched down about 2 miles away and jacked up a Walmart so much that they had to close it down for a while.  The other one touched down about 30 miles away in Jay.  Destroyed so many homes and things.  So Tuesday we spent most of the day up there trying to help the members and those around them clean up what was left of their homes.  After that I don't want to be in any tornadoes any time soon.

Wednesday we Just did some more missionary work.  Thursday we bike around a bit and had my breaks (not one but both) go out while going down a giant hill.  I can honestly say that was one of the most fervent prayers I have said on the mission.  hahaha Friday we had to go deal with member's crap.....ugh....hahaha we went to help them get to vegetable patches ready and in that process we put in cow crap and chicken crap.  Really cool though.  Went to dinner at our Bishop's house and I felt so awful they took pity on my poor soul and sent me home with medicine and sent me to bed at 8:15 (the bishop's wife is a nurse so I did as she said).

Saturday we went back up to the Jay area to help do more clean up.  So much destruction.  I'll try to send more pictures next week of it.  They also say that we are supposed to have tornado weather tuesday-thursday so if y'all could pray that it doesn't hit so hard I'd surely appreciate it.

Sunday we had dinner with this family and had butter beer (for those of you who didn't get that it is from Harry Potter).  Quite good stuff.  Well I think that's about all that is on my mind for this week.  Have a great week and don't do stupid things without me!

Golden Investigators and Golden Bathrooms

Y'all homies!

Sup everybody!  Pretty good week this week.  Update on the bike.  Still not completed but I have started my own tool collection.  I got wrenches, plyers, screw drivers, and a bucksaw now.  hahaha every good missionary needs a bucksaw.

Anyway Tuesday we had a super great zone training.  Our zone is leading the mission in almost every key indicator and it is incredible to see the difference a few months of hard work can make.  This area used to be one of the "pits" of the mission and now it is one of the most fruitful areas!  I am truly blessed to have been able to be here when the Lord began to hasten His work here.  That evening we had a less active and his brother (Mark and Dana) take us out to dinner.  They took us to this super nice restaurant where all of these important people have eaten.  Super expensive too.  He told us not to go cheap on him though so you know you got to do what you got to do.....One of my favorite things about that place was probably the bathroom.  They had personal TV's for each stall.  Let's just say I got distracted and left it at that.

The rest of the week we had almost everything fall through and we did a lot of walking since I didn't have a useable bike to ride.  Sunday was a super great day though.  Well you have the sacrament of course and then that night we met with a couple (Cynthia and Howard) and Cynthia is super solid in preparing herself to be baptized even though she knows she isn't ready right now and won't be ready for at least a few months but still wants to continue on full force!  After them we met a new couple that was a referral.  Jason is a less active member and his girlfriend/fiancĂ©/homie was actually blessed in the church but after her parents got divorced her mother wouldn't take her to the church so now she wants to learn what she missed out on.  They are already talking about going on a couple's mission!  I don't know if you can get anyone much more prepared than that!

Well that's about all for this week.  Thanks for reading.  Have a great week and do a good turn daily!

Oh on a side note I am staying in Pensacola for another six weeks with Elder Magnusson.

Painful 3/4 Mission Pants Destroying Party

Sup Y'all,

Bitter Sweet week.  Monday we got to play some volley ball.  Super sick.  Tuesday I went with our District Leader to Perdido and bashed with a Baptist preacher.  hahaha don't worry we won in a kind loving way and he invited us back. hahaha then we got to meet with a couple part member families and had one of them say he prayed about baptism and he knows it is the right thing for him to do and he will be baptized on Saturday!  Super cool!

Wednesday we just bustled from appointment to appointment and did the same thing on Thursday.

Friday we started having things fall through but were able to make the days good days nevertheless.

Saturday we got to take a less active out teaching with us!  Always a cool experience.  Then we traveled to another less active, via bikes, and met with them and they gave me the Lord of the Rings series on DVD to send home.  hahaha We were running a little behind after that so we were going to bike straight to the sister's baptism and on our way down a giant hill my seat decided to snap off part of the frame of the bike.  Don't worry I ended up falling on the tire to stop the bike.  Ripped my pants so I had a nice breeze for the 1/2 mile walk home.  It gets better.  On that walk home we walked right through a nice big group of young women who were doing a car wash.  hahaha pretty funny.  So I guess that makes for the most embarrassing moment of my mission.  If any of you on missions plan on burning pants for your 18 month mark I highly recommend not doing it by friction on your bike tire with your pants on you.  It is not as fun as it sounds.  Trust me.  oh and for those of you who were wondering the baptism went well after we went home and changed pants.

Sunday we just went to work and saw a few less active's and that was my week.  Now begins a whole new week and the final 1/4 of my mission.  Gonna finish strong so that way I don't have anything else bite me in the butt later.  hahaha  Have a great week.

Flying High

Hey y'all,

This week was a pretty good week.  I will recap it quickly for you.

Monday we were taken to the Naval Aviation Museum on the military base here in Pensacola and it was such a cool place.  I loved it and it was even cooler having two veterans from our ward take us on a tour of the place and describe everything to us!

Tuesday we had a lot of our plans fall through but we were still able to get a lot of work done and ended the night going on a trade off with the zone leaders.  I stayed in Pensacola with Elder Thomas.  He is such a stud.  He came in and said "I love going on trade offs because I feel I can be bold with people cause I don't have to see them again"  Interesting perspective but it made me understand the importance of being bold with people.

Wednesday we got to see a lot of people and ended up finding a new investigator after one of our appointments fell through.  That was great.  It was also a very spiritually enlightening trade off.

Thursday was pretty boring we planned almost all day and worked on getting to know more members the rest of the day.

Friday we went out with Brother Forster on his birthday!  Such a great guy!  We got him some gifts and then he took us to lunch.  haha seems a little backwards but I'll take it.

Saturday we biked to a few appointments across town.  It felt so good.  It was in the 60's and was clear skies.  So much better than being trapped in Utah snow.

Sunday was another Sunday.  We did have an appointment fall through and then felt prompted to see a less active family we haven't seen in a while and were an answer to their prayers.  They told us about having to pretty much disown their own son because of the choices he had made and the constant pain and threat he posed to the family.  I can't ever imagine having to do that.  But they said that there was such a great peace that was brought into their home and we had an amazing prayer with them and the spirit was so strong.  Wonderful!

Well that's all I got for ya.  Have a great week!  Be good.  Love Jesus!
