Staying in Bonifay to annoy alligators

Hey Y'all,
Things have been well here in Bonifay.  Not a whole lot exciting happened this week.

Tuesday we played a lot of basketball.  I have to say that after 12 weeks here I was finally humbled.  One of our zone leaders, who played high school basketball, blocked one of my layups so badly.  He smashed it into the side wall and leveled me.  I did not see any of that coming.

On the bright side we taught a lot of lessons this week so that was nice.  Saturday was probably the best day.  We were able to go to a less active member's house and have dinner with them.  So naturally the first thing that happens is he shows us a new alligator that started to live in his pond.  Now you may ask what does the sensible and responsible missionary do?  Well I will tell you.  I proceeded to mess with him.  Naturally that is the right thing to do.  haha yeah good times.

Then we had dinner with the less active member and a couple of non member's that he invited over.  Super awesome!  They are both solid but one, Jeff, is incredible.  He all but said that he wanted to be baptized.  He is looking to change his life around and gain peace and happiness.  So excited for him!  So yeah...that is about our week.  I will be staying in Bonifay for another transfer with Elder Whitney so that is awesome.  Love the guy!  Last but not least a shout out to Paul and Kay getting married on Friday.  Have a great and safe week y'all.

Taco Bell and Manuel

Hey Y'all,

This week was another good week.  Monday we got to do FHE with the bishop's family.  He is a great guy so we had a good time.  Tuesday not a whole lot happened.  District meeting went long so that took up a good chunk of our day.  Wednesday was good.  taught a couple lessons and did some service with Manuel for a member (Bobby  a Bowen clan member).  They put up sheetrock so fishin fast!  At the end of it they offered us a job for Thursday with them in Dothan.  They would give us lunch and $20.  Hahaha if only.  They were awesome guys!

Thursday we weekly planned and then went down to Panama City for interviews with President Smith.  That was great!  Love him and his wife!  I picked up a couple sick new ties and we got taco bell.  First time in a long while that has happened.

Friday we taught a couple more people and then Saturday we took a 16 year old out with us all day.  His name is Brent  (a member of the vast Bowen clan that is related to everyone in Bonifay)  Almost everything fell through so that sucked but it was a good experience for him.  Yesterday we had to stay in because of tornado and flood warnings.  So we got a nice 2 hour nap in.  I wasn't too mad about that hahaha.  Well things are going well here.  So yeah that's about it.  Have a great week.

Coca-Cola Worker and BBQ

Hey Y'all,
This week was a great week.  Monday we taught a less active who works for (drum roll please)  COCA COLA!!!!!  His name is Paul.  Super cool guy.  He and his wife are hard core gamers.  They each have their own Xbox1 and account.  To each his own I guess.

Tuesday we went to zone training in Panama City.  That was cool.  I got to see my homies down there.  Wednesday we taught a lot of people....Thursday we weekly planned and went to jail.  Friday we went to a flea market.  Well a poor excuse for a flea market.  Just a glorified yard sale if you ask me.  Nothing too special there.  Saturday I was in Chipley doing a trade off.  Let's just say Saturday was a joke and that not a whole lot of missionary work happens over there.

Sunday we were able to go to church teach a bit then go to dinner with the Evans.  I love brother Evan's cooking!  BBQ  all of the time.  He has his own smoker that he has used for 29 years.  Talk about quality meat right there.  Then he makes his own BBQ sauce. Heaven on earth right there.  Oh it was soooooo good.  Best way to end a fast.  I think I went into a food coma afterwards.  totally worth it!  Well there you have it.  A week in review brought to you by Coca-Cola, Evans BBQ, and Xbox1.  Have a great week y'all!

General Conference...nuff said

Hey Y'all,

This week was a great week.  We were able to teach 9 lessons between Monday night-Thursday night.  Friday we helped build a porch and then Saturday and Sunday were devoted to General Conference.

It was an unusual conference but one of the best that I have heard.  I really enjoyed President Uchtdorf's talks.  If you missed them go watch the whole conference over again.  If you saw them.  I commend you for your valiant efforts and now humble yourself by going and watching conference again.

As for details of the week.  We had two investigators finish up their cancer treatments so that was great.  We got to go back to the jail.  We found a guy who has the worst seat in the jail.  Right by the entrance to the back with only bars and a sheet of Plexiglas.  He could see and hear everybody getting visitors and just had to sit there and watch.  Poor guy.  On the bright side he was reading out of the Bible.

Well that about sums up my week.  Be good.  Love Jesus.

Smoked Burgers and Country Music

Hey Y'all,

So this week was pretty good.  Did a ton of service which is great but it does make you not want to go out and find people and teach so there is a downside to that.  Tuesday we went to a less active's house and moved a shed for him.  Wednesday we helped a member lay flooring in his house so that his family could live in it.  Thursday and Friday we helped another member (LD Henderson) replace some siding/roof stuff so that he could get his home owner's insurance back.  Thursday for lunch he smoked us some 8 oz hamburgers.  Those things were fishin' massive!

I had a hard time finishing one.  Then we also got to try some of his smoked hot dogs.  Smoking food makes it taste so much better.  Saturday I went on a trade off with Elder Farris (District Leader).  First time I had to lead the area in 8 months of being on the mission.  I feel like I am really good at avoiding responsibility.  LOL.

Then yesterday our ward had a nice big potluck.  Southern food is so delicious.  If I come back a BIG guy just know it was all worth it. Then we went and visited another less active (Charles Farmer) who lives out in the booneys.  He brought out his guitar and wanted to hear Elder Whitney play on it.  Elder Whitney let him play first and he just started going to town on it.  Played a bunch of country music and singing along to it.  Best way to end a week ever!  Nothing beats country music under the moonlight!  He also taught us a few tricks and so we have been practicing.  Hopefully we will be better next time we see him.  Anyway enjoy General Conference.  Oh and feed the missionaries.  We like that sort of thing ;)
